Every Marielle dress is intentionally cut to fit a defined range, not a single body type. When designer Marielle Stokkelaar spent her years in Florence and Munich working on the silhouette, the goal was a dress that flatters EU 34 the same way it flatters EU 42. The pattern is engineered for it.
The Fabric Does the Fitting
Most “one size” dresses fail because the fabric is the wrong tool for the job. Stiff cotton creates tents. Tight polyester creates stress points. Egyptian cotton, woven from extra-long-staple fibres (35 to 40 mm versus standard 28 mm), is the opposite. It’s soft enough to drape, structured enough to hold its shape, and breathable enough that you forget you’re wearing a 130 cm dress.
The result on a real body: the dress moves with you, gathers where you want it, releases where you don’t. That’s the entire trick. The cut is the same. The fabric does the rest.

Marielle Stokkelaar didn’t start with a dress. She started with seven years of design work across Florence, Hong Kong, and Munich, sketching for fashion houses whose names you’d recognise. The dress began with one question: how do you design a single cut that flatters every size equally - from US 2–10, EUR 34–42, or XS–L?
The answer is volume in the right places (a generous bust panel, a fabric belt that ties at your natural waist) and length cut for an average European frame, with hem allowance for tailoring if you want to shorten. The dress has been refined across twelve seasons since 2018. It is not an idea. It is a pattern that has been tested 100,000 times.

What does "one size" actually mean for Marielle Stokkelaar dresses?
Our one size is cut to fit EU 34, 36, 38, 40, and 42 (UK 6-14, US 2-10). Each dress uses volume in the cut so it adapts naturally to a range of bodies within that size band. Many of our styles, like the Phoebe, also feature a fabric belt that ties at your natural waist for a tailored fit.
I’m 1.55m / 5’1". Is the dress going to be too long?
Our dresses cover a range of lengths across the collection, so most styles will sit beautifully on someone your height. If you’d like a shorter hem on any style, a tailor can easily adjust it without affecting the design. I’m 1.83m / 6’0". Will it be too short?

What’s the fabric? Is it stretchy?
100% Egyptian cotton, extra-long staple, woven in Europe. The fabric is not stretchy. It is soft, breathable, and drapes naturally on the body. Machine washable at 30°.
How long does shipping take?
